China Takes The Lead in Mobile Phone Production - Saturday, October 30, 2004 at 14:48 China has become the world's biggest mobile phone producers, according to Xinhua News Agency.
The report said official Customs statistics show that the exports of mobile phones through Shenzhen in Guangdong Province soared 320 per cent in the first nine months of the year to 12.93 million pieces compared to the same period last year.
The total value of these exports amounted to US$1.29 billion, a staggering increase of 550 per cent during the same period. Xinhua said the cell phones were exported to 34 countries and areas with the US taking the bulk of orders with exports worth US$840 million.
The newswire said many major world-famous companies such as Motorola, SonyEricsson, Nokia and Anycall have established production bases in China.
